Home Preparation for Winter in Nebraska

This is absolutely NOT an exhaustive list of ways to prepare your house for winter in Nebraska. This is just a starting point and, dare I say, the bare minimum of what you need to do. Every house has different needs and the change of seasons is a reminder that you should try to keep up with whatever your house needs.

  1. Clean Gutters and Downspouts: Remove leaves and debris from your gutters to prevent clogs and water damage.

  2. Service Your Heating System: Have your heating system inspected and serviced to ensure it's ready for winter.

  3. Seal Windows and Doors: Check for drafts and seal any gaps to improve energy efficiency.

  4. Prepare Your Lawn and Garden: Rake leaves, trim trees and shrubs, and prepare your lawn for winter.

Home preparation for winter in Nebraska should also include winterizing your sprinklers, winterizing your pool/pond (when applicable), and knocking a few things off the list of things you've been meaning to do at your house! You won't regret it.
