Hitchcock Nature Center: Located just north of Crescent, Iowa, this is the best for fall hiking (in my opinion)! Loads of trails perfect for a short or long hike. Great trail running. There’s a $5 fee to enter the park.
Fontenelle Forest: Great hiking for all skill levels. You can stay on a boardwalk the whole time if uneven surfaces aren’t for you. They also have a falcon rescue and little kids love seeing the rescues up close. You have to pay the Fontanelle Forest entrance fee.
Camp Calvincrest: Located just south of Fremont, this trail system is extensive! There are beautiful Platte River views and you can also mountain bike here. These trails can be steep. Free entry!
I hope you can check out these great Omaha Area hiking locations!
